I got a camera with MP3 player, USB, CF card slot and audio rec/play
feature. I use it from time to time to listen to MP3 files, often in the
car. However, this camerea eats batteries with 400mA (!!!) in each of its
modes. In camera mode I understand that fast electronics needs juice but MP3
playing is nothing even if you consider the 20mW power of the headphones,
which should make up the major part of consumption. And the filter of the
MP3-player is crap, some songs have a very high frequency distortion in some
parts, possibly caused by low sampling rate.

This recalls in me the analogy to RISC and CISC prozessors.

Imagine a Palm with a nice large Newton screen and PalmOS and Palm
applications only :-( I tried to use a Palm to take notes in a lesson but
after 5 min I swapped back to my Newton.

Yes, and even the Newton could have a larger screen, at least could the
border be half as wide as it is. This Palm tablet thing is a joke! Who wants
to write on paper and take an instant copy into his Palm? The Palm can not
print it nor translate it into ASCII nor fax and screws up if someone uses
an eraser. If I write on paper and want to give a copy to someone else of it
I would prefer to use a copy machine, fax or scanner but shurely not wast
time with a Palm!

You could laugh about it? I could cry about what engineering results they've
trashed. What an arrogance...
