I carry my Newt(s) in my left hand, stylus in right hand. So I carry the
Newts. in portrait(vertical) format mainly because the Newts.are in use at
least 14 hours a day, like now. :-)

I use the landscape mode for web browsing, certain apps., and intense IrDA
between two Newts.
