There's a (disparaging) Newton mention in this week's eWeek Magazine
Spencer F. Katt cartoon.

I notice that Spencer seems to be protecting it from the avalanche of
other tech, though.

Figures eWeek would lambaste the iPod, though. It used to be PC Week,
but they though they could hide their bias by renaming it.

Hey, I must be related to Spencer...I have minidisks (and so do a lot
of people; they're sold next to the MP3 players in stores these days!
I think he shouldn't have inclueded them), and even a still-working 8-
track player and cartridges. Not to mention 4 Newtons. My basement
computer room looks a lot like his closet. I avoided DIVX players,
though. Must be proof I'm gonna buy an iPod. Gotta drop by CompUSA to
check today, I hear rumors that they are out in stores already even
though they are officially supposed to arrive this Saturday, Nov
10th.. Of course, being as we're in Iowa, we'll probably get 'em on
Nov 10th, 2002....getting the OS X 10.1 upgrade was a frickin' week or
more late at the local CompUSA! I got my official developer upgrade
mailing with 10.1 from Apple a couple of days later! Oh well, at least
it's now one of the stores that has an actual Apple employee on staff,
rather than the usual teenage clueless salesdrones. I hear rumors
we'll be getting an Apple Store in a year or so, too (be a good idea,
we've got a Gateway Store right up the street from CompUSA....)
