Hello,
I just recently sent in two MP2000's for screen and backlight replacements
and requested additionally that the casings be replaced as well. It took on
the average three weeks for each Newton to be returned. When I checked on
the repair status on Apple's website, the message at one time indicated that
the repair was being delayed pending availability of parts. However, I
received my Newtons with new screens, backlights and casings (including
screen cover, battery cage, and stylus). In essence a brand new Newton!)
with the exception of the motherboard). Previous repair requests 1-2 years
ago were handled with impressive speed. I had one unit back to me in less
than a week. It is reasonable to conclude that they are exhausting their
supply of readily available parts.
