Doing it is really, really easy - (I design and mold narrow-gauge HOn30
train kits in my spare time).

Take e-Mate apart.

Use original parts as masters for molding in RTV silicone rubber ($8-$10
per set of molds); silicone will not harm e-Mate parts.

Cast with clear 2-part resin with colorant added ($4-$10 per eMate shell).

Peel mold off, clean up any flashing. Sell at an extreme markup. This is
how the clear MP2000/2100 case was done in Japan.

The only two SEVERE limitations are that the resin would be nowhere near
as strong as polycarbonate, and there may have been powdered graphite
added to the e-Mate's case to act as an RF shield.

I mean, does anyone think there's a market for this? I've been busy
finishing a narrow gauge 18 ton Shay kit and logging car kit, but who knows?
