[NTLK] IrDA printing to HP laserjets

My office just got a new HP 4550N color Laser printer. It works great with
my Newton over the network. We also got the Fast InfraRed connect adapter
for the printer which is supposed to work with IrDA enabled devices. I tried
it with my Newton using the built-in HP LaserJet 5MP (IrDA) driver. It works
fast and perfectly, ONCE. Subsequent efforts to print from the Newton fail.
Resetting the Newton does not fix the problem but powering the printer off
and on does. Again though, only one note can be printed. Pressing the job
cancel button on the printer is supposed to clear the memory but this
doesn't enable me to print again, only a complete powerdown and powerup
works.

Anybody got any suggestions? Is there a more recent vintage IrDA driver for
the Newton? I would love to be able to print without connecting to the
network but having to powercycle the printer really detracts from the
advantages since it takes several minutes to warm up again.

Aloha,

P.S. all you NUGWash attendees have fun at Friday night's meeting. Once
again, I will just miss the meeting. I arrive at Dulles on Saturday morning.
