Actually, "Professional" has the same activation system as Home Edition.
The main difference is that Prof. can connect to a 2K/XP domain, whereas
Home cannot.

There are two versions of XP. One is the version that
you talk about and the other is the Professional
version. The difference is that the professional
version has unlimited use/changes. It is also more
expensive than the other version.
We all on this list are quite adamant in paying our
shareware fees to the applications that we use, and
there have been quite a bit of talk about copyright
and program ownership. Why should Microsoft NOT want
to protect what is they'ers? It's a know fact that
Microsoft products are the number one pirated
products. Microsoft just has identified that some
people don't need all the stuff that more experienced
users need. So, why charge then the premium (or the
same price) as the powerusers? My parents have had an
AMD 200 machine for 5 years. They still use Office 97.
They will probably never upgrade unless I do it for
them. So, why do they need a more expensive version?
What would have been nice if there were a stripped
down version of Office that they could've
purchased...But, for Office 97, there wasn't. XP now
offers that chance.
I've got no problem about vendor trying to protect
their investment...
