I agree...in principle. But I *think* the scroll wheel acts as a volume
control without
having to navigate there by menu.

I actually went ahead and ordered one. My wife has wanted a portable MP3
player
for months (mainly to listen to old radio shows while commuting), and I could
certainly use a portable FireWire drive for transporting files between
work and
home, and the occasional back-up.

It's more than I wanted to spend for an MP3 player, but more-or-less what I
expected to spend for a portable FireWire drive. (The power adapter is
included, by
the way.) And I like the white backlight.
