Yes, I agree. I'm kinda sick to read all those messages about the iPod.
People, remember we are a great community because we all saw the value in
our little green friend. Let's not forget about this!
So, those that want to buy the iPod can go ahead and buy 3 or 4 units if
they want, while those that don't want to buy it just keep their money for
something else, and everybody is happy!
Let's not destroy our small community over this thing, as great as it can
be. It's not going to replace our Newton anytime soon, so I'm guessing that
everybody in this list will continue using his Newton whenever the iPod
ships, and we will all need the help of each other.
Thank you all.
-Laurent.
P.S.: let's not forget that Steve Weyer did release a third version of VNC
for the Newton. Way to go, Steve!

In fact, experience has shown repeatedly that good designs arise only from evolutionary, exploratory interaction between one (or at most a small handful of) exceptionally able designer(s) and an active user population -- and that the first try at a big new idea is always wrong. Unfortunately, because these truths don't fit the planning models beloved of management, they are generally ignored.
