[NTLK] Success - slow internet with AT&T wireless

After reading reports from GSM people here about how relatively easy it was
to surf wirelessly, I finally have some success with AT&T Wireless cellular
to report. I broke down and purchased the Ositech King of Clubs. It
supports TDMA in digital and analog mode. OK, AT&T won't let me use digital
mode, but analog works ok. The King of Hearts is the same, but it also will
use land lines, and cost $US50 more.

The speed? Yeah, well, somewhere around 9600 to 14400. But I'm so happy to
be able to do it at all while walking around with my MP2000 I don't care. I
have faxed, and sent and retrieved email through my earthlink account. I
didn't try surfing the web since I nethopper isn't that useful.

It worked right off in the MP2k, both "14.4 normal" and "28.8 and faster"
Prefs worked. It takes longer to get a connection, since it tries digital
first, stops, resets, then tries analog cellular. Actually, the hard part
was getting it to work in my Win NT laptop. For that I had to call Ositech
support. They were great, and they're in Guelph. I made sure to mention
that Newtons were popular in Guelph ; ).
