" With Backtalk you can beam Names, Notes and Dates
between your Newton and Palm."

Thanks, that's a great sugggestion--i checked out the Web page and it
looks like it will do what i want--it never occured to me you could do
this without using the Palm Desktop as an intermediary between the newton
and the palm.

" In order to avoid all entries
doubled I simple brain wipe the Palmtoy each time :-) and restore
everything
including the new Newton data. This works but take a lot of time too."

This sounds way too complicated--and i'm not sure i would want to
brainwipe the Palm every time--there are occasionally entries there that
are not on the newton, and they would be lost.
I posed this same question to Palm Tech Support, and though they
never gave a satisfactory answer, they did give one very useful
suggestion. There is an app for the Palm called UnDupe that removes all
doubled entries fromm the Palm-- so one, rather inelegant, solution is to
ignore the doubling that occurs when you do an export into
Palmdesktop--and then use this app to remove all the doubled stuff later.
I tried it and it works very well. (and it's inexpensive--shareware at
$8) J Charney
