I really think this thread is becoming indulgent and to some offensive.

I live in a part of the world where calls for vengeance lead to misery on
both sides.

Security through exerting military strength is an illusion here.

Revenge? Last November I was 150 metres from the first militant assassinated
by Israel and over the next ten minutes watched two entirely innocent
Palestinian women in their fifties bleed to death in front of me after being
struck by the helicopter launched missile. One of them was fully conscious
with one side of her body torn off.

That's the reality. So you may have your own views about how many innocents
its worth risking to solve the problem of international terrorism. But macho
posturing about what you'd do with your silly guns on the West Coast looks
pretty ignorant from over here.

And I don''t want to know who you think is right or wrong in this region.

Expressions of sympathy - fine. A competition on who has the biggest, best
or most violent solution. Spare us and stop it.
