I've stumbled across an intermittent Newton problem along the lines of
'switching on by itself'. Usually before I flick the power switch on a
Newton, I'll eject the pen from the holder. My MP2000U ejects the pen fine,
but the pen-silo in my MP2100 drags on the pen a little then fires the
little green guy right up! I haven't taken it apart to look for loose wires,
or rewiring. Is it possible to generate enough static in the pen-silo to
bridge the powerswitch? Any actual danger here? Or might I have the highly
sought after James Bond version - "AutoNewt"? I think it's cool to have an
"auto-on procedure" (saves wear on the switch), however, if it truly is
static, I could be playing with fire.

There have been two recent reports of 'switching on by itself', possibly =
related to ESD. Is this something to worry about even though there is =
protection in the Newton? This is the first time I've considered them =
possibly vulnerable with normal use.
