Yes, finally got there.
Both sliders all the way to the right on Slowdown.exe. Bit tricky finding
Slowdown.exe because there looks like a malevolent version of it designed to
clandestinely cripple somebodies PC. I was a little anxious while I tried
to pick out the good guy from the bad guy.
Found the right version at home.t-online.de/home/Ramm-Bremen/down4.htm
Making the NBU app working in real-time mode worked (Ctl-Alt-Del, click
processes tab, right-click nbu, click priority, select real-time).
It does a full backup on the first go but unfortunately it kept stalling
while backing up the packages. So I cleaned out all the packages that I
felt I didn't need. Whoever was my predecessor had installed a lot of games
but I got rid of most of them. Reducing the amount of packages worked and
the backup was completed.
Then I installed QuickFigure, HWRWorks, and Sloup (so that I can use
Notes2Notes).
