That would be the beauty of it. It would be a "simple" app. The
functionality could be ported and the conduits are the part that's
platform/application specific.
Hotsync by itself doesn't really do much. It runs the conduits and acts
as the data path between system and P*lm. There's no call nor need for
something like the full P*lm desktop app.
I don't know anything about programming, but look at Sloup as an
example. He made a program that sits on the Newt and people keep writing
new apps that interface with it. Why not make ONE app that interfaces
with it and have the ability to expand that program as YOU need.
I can't be the only one who has ever had this thought. Someone who
actually has some skill must have at least started working on something
or a plan of some type.

Yes, but for those that continues to migrate, for instance to OS X, it
may come a time when Classic OS 9 might not be desirable. Having a
native solution would be best. I, for one, would hate to keep a Classic
installation only to install a package (Sloup or whatever) just when I
erase the internal memory...
