Did you try with the "Newton Data Browser" (AKA DIL Tester)
<http://www.tempel.org/newton/index.html#DILplugin>? That's the only way to
use IrDA to connect your Newton running NOS 2.1 to a PowerBook that is IrDA
compliant (I think starting from the PowerBook 3400).
