Hi,
Received a long awaited upgraded Newton 2100 from Philly Discounters
yesterday. Plugged in the power adapter and reset it as recommended. The
Newton started up and and a message came up: "The battery is running
low...... change batteries soon". A bit surprised, tapped on the cross to
close the window. And got a nasty surprise! The screen was unresponsive.
Tapped on the icons lining the bottom: same result. Exchanged the
rechargeable battery with another one which was confirmed to carry adequate
charge. Once again the same message; the screen remained unresponsive. Have
let the battery charge several hours, but status quo prevails. Have also
tried 4 brand new alkalines to no effect. Can anything be done short of
opening the Newton? Hope I have not bought a paperweight for $110?
Sumit
