Too bad... I was expecting this, although hoped that it was just some
foolish error of mine. Thanks for the info, anyway.
I resoldered the phone data cable back and tried to make MiniDIN8 to
DB9 adapter myself but so far i can't make Newton to talk to Siemens
s45. I soldered cable like this:
mDIN8 pins DB9 pins
1 4 and 7
2 1, 6 and 8
3 3
4 5
5 2
6 left open
7 left open
8 5
I double and triplechecked the cable with tester, it's really as
described above, no shorts between pins etc, but I can't connect. What
am I doing wrong? Or maybe the circuitry inside the phone data cable
needs some power which it can't get from Newt but can from desktop PC?
Thanks in advance!
