[NTLK] communications error -1 on a WinXP machine

I have a lovely new desktop WinXP machine on which I have installed NBU.
I would like to back up my Newton. The PC and the Newton connect just
fine. But the moment I tap the Back-Up icon, I get a "communications
error -1." Is there some way to fix this? I did a Google search for that
phrase and discovered, in the Newtontalk archives, someone else asking
the same question. He was told to search the FAQs. I tried that and the
Connection FAQ, but could find nothing about it in either place. Can you
help?
