How bright is EL and what colors are the brightest?
Blue and Green EL lamps are the brightest and generate 15-20 foot-Lamberts. With this amount of light output, EL lamps as small as 4” X 8” can be seen from up to 5 to 6 miles at night according to a study conducted by the US Air Force. Furthermore, the study concluded that EL was superior to other lighting systems and retro-reflective tapes because the EL light was not noticeably reduced during smoke, snow, ice, dust, fog, and haze conditions.
