Hey great thanks to everyone on this list who helped me connect my Newt to
NCU via AppleTalk.
I have ONE last problem:
Now that I can use both serial AND AppleTalk to connect to NCU, when I go to
install packages, they are not visible to NCU! I can go through all the
directories I KNOW I have packages in, but they donıt show up in the
choosing window. What could be the problem? This happens both when I use
NCU in Classic AND when I boot to OS 9.
The way I got all these other pkgs to my Newt was from my PC running NCU.
Thanks a bunch!

If your router will route AppleTalk packets, then you're fine with that
connection.

Is your Newton configured to use AppleTalk over Ethernet? Go to Extras ->
Prefs -> AppleTalk and choose your 3c589D card.
Also make sure that AppleTalk on your Mac is set to use Ethernet as well,
and
that NCU is set to listen via AppleTalk.
