Probably because dialing only last for a few seconds (Unless you have
several drops). It's like turing on a light, there is a huge draw when
you flip the switch, but how does that compare to the draw of leaving
the light on for an hour?

Good list. But I notice it gives online draw. I have found that the
dialing draw of most modems is much higher than the online draw ...

seems to be the one modem makers publish (wonder why ;-> ).
