Floppy? Which one? 5.25 or 3.5?
Not that I use them much these days, I mean, I usually
transfer my data now using Zip disks or smart-media
(backed up on CD of course) But I do know that
formatting a floppy disk in Win98 using the included
formatter does take quite a toll. But an application
called fastfmt.exe (I've used this utility since dos
3.1 back in the DeskView days. It allows formatting a
floppy in it's own memory space. Since then,
Formatting a floppy has never taken over my machine (I
used to edit my command.com to use fastfmt instead of
format to format my disks.
There's ways around everything.
