Joel- I completely agree that Mac OS X is merely "baby step" in the
right direction, and that eventually, someone, be it Apple or not, will
make the next quantum leap in computing. A leap where data is not lost,
programs open instantly, and the interface is so simple it is hardly
noticed, but has enough depth to please even the most hard-core user.
Yes, the Newton met a lot of these requirements, but they have yet to be
met by a desktop OS.

However, just because OS X is not that quantum leap we are waiting for,
does not mean it lacks value. In my opinion, it IS a step forward for
the Mac platform... albeit a small one. Why not value it for what it is,
instead of wishing it was more?
