[NTLK] 2100 serial conn turns on newt

I've noticed that every time I connect or disconnect my serial cable
from my 2100, that it turns the unit on. (because of course I have
turned it off in order to plug/unplug the serial cable ;-) )
Is this normal behaviour? My 'old' 130 never did this.
