Assuming the iWalk is fake or it actually is a prototype and it's finished
version is not released at this MacWork I think there's more good than the
"told you so" value to come of this.
The iWalk has not only generated a lot of discussion on Apple rumor sites,
it's made Apple general news sites, non-Apple IT news sites (Slashdot, The
Register) and god knows how many newsgroups and mailing lists. People are
buzzing with the news and I don't think it's just the "Is it real/is it
not?" talk generating all the interest - people are actually keen to see an
Apple PDA/handheld computer.
And the killer point about that is with all the PDA/handhelds currently on
the market from all kinds of manufacturers with all kinds of features and
at a wide range of price points just the rumour that Apple is about to come
back into the market is enough to make a considerable stir. It speaks
volumes for the quality of the Message Pads, for Apple and their products
in general. People want an Apple product, no-one else does it like they do.
I've heard the reports of what Steve Jobs and other Apple executives have
said about Apple not making another PDA and even if that's what they
currently think how long can they ignore a potential market like this? They
told us when they axed the Message Pad that the product would be back and
I'm waiting for them to come good on that.
I own a MP110 and a MP2000u, and the day Apple releases their next
PDA/handheld I'll put my money down for that too. I don't want a Palm, a
Visor, a iPaq, a Yopy or any of the rest - I want an Apple and there'd be
plenty more people like me out there too, whether they know it now or not.
Bring back Newton god damn it!

Subject: [NTLK] iWalk is a good thing
Newton lovers will win if iWalk is real or not...
If it is real, the market will be flooded with Newtons being sold by those
moving on to purchase their iWalk...the result - the price of Newtons will
DROP! This will make it easier to own several. Which will be good to have
(at least until the iWalk is discontinued :P - then we can buy them a
discount too)
And if the iWalk is not real, we can all say, "see, I told you so."
Cheers,
Steven
