A new Apple PDA has twice been the hoax of the day, so I suggest next
time those rumour mills come up with something else and just in case I
provide some material to work from below ;-)
It won't fit the StarTrek category, but here is a list of ideas for
future hoax or hype products, all of which I believe would be quite
interesting ...
- a notebook that beeps when it's in travel mode and outside a 100 ft
range of its owner, further call back home with GPS whereabouts when it
has reason to believe it got lost or stolen
- a suitcase that follows its owner and features the very same
anti-theft/anti-loss features as the above notebook
- a fuel cell powered notebook
- an MP3 based personal home stereo juke box with a wireless LAN
connection and an IP based remote control, automatically adjusting
volume when needed (i.e. when a telephone call comes in)
- a cable tuner/TV with a LAN interface and a built-in QuickTime
streaming server and remote AppleScript support
- a coffee machine with voice recognition and the ability to make
Italian espresso and capucino on command in various languages, also with
remote AppleScript support
- a wireless optical mouse that can also be used as a scanner
automatically self-motion scanning books and news magazines with the
ability to turn pages
- an organiser in a watch controlled by voice recognition that talks to
its owner telling contacts and appointments and also sends voice
dictated email.
;-)
