In the most recent incarnations of OE & IE on the Mac, I crashing's a
reduced problem. However, it's been my experience that the 'cache.waf' file
will sometimes get accessed simultaneously (or something like that) if both
are running and, for example, OE tries to download mail when IE is
downloading a page. I can't duplicate it reliably, but probably twice a
month one or the other will freeze while grabbing info. *Usually* a force
quit will get the machine back, but you *must* quite the non-offender and
trash the 'cache.waf' file in order for either to work properly again.
(They'll just crash when you try to fire them back up.)

The only other consistent problem I've had with crashing is that there are
some people who write really pernicious web sites -- some places, simply
attempting to load the page will crash things badly enough to require a
reboot. I can only assume (since I can't access the page) that they're
using something hideously non-standard or else have code on the page that's
Windows-only but haven't bothered to check the browser first and provide an
alternate. This problem occurs to varying degrees with both Netscape and
IE, so I'm not convinced it's that the browser folks don't know how to write
software.
