Unix - a play on the name of a multi user time sharing os named multics.
OS X - as in OS 10 (roman numeral) duh...
The X in NeXT doesn't mean anything. NeXT was $teve Jobs's "next gig".
Linux - Linus Trovald's Unix like OS. The X means nothing, comes from
unix.
There is no Windows XT. There is Windows NT.
Windows XP? Who knows. NT was New Technology. XP? Extra Proprietary???
Extra Punishing? An expired pea?
There is nothing in common with these.
