I looked around the net a bit and it seems PCMCIA linear flash RAM
cards, depending on brand and series, are rated for either 1,000,000 or
100,000 read/write cycles. This, of course is an average, your mileage may
vary.
Intel Value Series 100 seemed to clock in at 1,000,000 R/W while some
other Intel series were in the 100,000 class.
This won't help if you have a generic card, but many have a manufacturer
part code stamped on them somewhere. I look at some Newton branded 2MB cards
I have and they appear to have an Intel part# iMC002FLSA. Other 2MB Newton
cards have completely different markings. I have a 6MB Intel with the number
iMC006FLSC. My Newton branded 4MB card offers no clues as to the original
manufacturer (though it might be under the label).
Hope this helps,
Peter
