when I was testing new plugins for Newt's Cape,
I often sent over various files for captive experimentation
(.bmp, .wav, .zip, .jar, .pdb, .prc, ...)

I'd usually use EETransfer on Newton, terminal emulator (like ZTerm) on
desktop, transfer via serial and ZModem protocol. then grab file as binary
object from Inbox entry.

or you could use SimpleMail and send as attachment (file also avail then
from Inbox entry).

or download via http: (though this would require a short helperApp to store
the resulting file somewhere).

I'm sure there will be other solutions others will suggest...
