Perhaps a solution would be to create a separate "Euro-only" font with
various styles of Euro characters corresponding to each of the built-in
Newton font styles. For example, to insert a Euro in a line of text set
in "Simple", you would position the caret, switch to the "Euro" font
using Styles+ or similar and then perhaps tap "1". For the "Casual" Euro,
you'd tap "2"...

This would entail creating a set of bitmapped characters for each size
and font style, and then building a new Newton-format font.

Just a thought. I may try this myself.
