I know someone who claims that the eMate discharges faster when it's asleep
than when its running - something I have not seen myself - and she only uses
the power switch on the keyboard.
The switch that activates wake/sleep according to the screen position is
soldered to the motherboard so analysis of its function is slightly more
tricky. I'm not sure but I don't think a display cable fault would cause the
problem you describe as all these sub-assemblies seem to be powered down
during sleep mode - it's only a guess though.
Does anyone have a schematic for the eMate? This would be treasure for us.
If I had the problem eMate in front of me, I would measure the current drawn
from the battery when the machine is slept with the keyboard switch or the
screen switch and see if there was a difference - this might be the crucial
clue.
I can envisage disabling the screen switch in some way so that only the
keyboard switch woke/slept the machine. The eMate would sleep automatically
after the preset period even if the lid was closed while it was running. If
the switch can be dismantled it might be repairable, but that's a long shot.
Are you guys happy with the instructions for dismantling the eMate which are
already available or shall I put one together?
Joel.
