Very Bad: With both crystals engaged, the screen mostly blanked, except for
a black vertical bar approx. 10 pixels wide, about 1/3 from the right, the
full length of the screen. Hitting the reset button didn't help. Removing
the battery didn't help. Holding the reset button for 20 seconds didn't
help.

Removing all power for about 10 minutes, opening it up and removing and
reseating the ROM card, then restoring power, helped.

Happily, the internal store didn't get erased. Amazingly, the time and date
weren't even affected.

Ok, maybe that's only 'Really Bad'. It was still embarrassing, and induced
a bit of stress, and certainly you don't want to have that happen in routine
use, where you have to take the darn thing apart to get it going again.
