Check the Newton Faq, for answers to some of your questions.

I'm not sure about your storage card problem, but I can help with your
connectivity issues.

You'll need Newton Connection Utilities (www.unna.org/unna/apple) installed
on one of your older Macs (the iMac is much harder to connect to), and
you'll have to use the round 8pin to 8pin cable. The other cable is for
connecting to a PC (sell it on eBay if you don't need it -- I'd buy it from
you). Once you've installed the software, hooked up the Newton, simply run
Newton Connection Utilities, choose your connection method (Serial is
easiest), and hit "Connect" on your Newton.

Good luck!

Subject: [NTLK] Newbie has a storage card problem!

Hi all

Just joined the list after getting an MP120 (OS 2.0) via eBay in the UK.
Having great fun finding my way around the little fella, but a couple of
things have stumped me so far.

1 It came with three storage cards (two 1MB, and one 2MB). They're original
Newton cards. The two 1MB cards appear to have some software on, in that the
previous owner has written on the 'Contents' space things like Pocket Money,
Terminal Emulator, Newt Books etc. They're both assembled in Japan. The 2MB
card has a label with 649-0062 on it and was assembled in the Philippines.
That's the detail.

Thing is, I can't get my Newt to 'see' them at all. Every time I put on in,
lock it in place and go to Extras before tapping on Card, it simply comes
back with the message 'No card inserted'. Am I missing something here?

NB I did have to do a Hard Reset when I first got the Newt, because the
previous owner had left it pin number protected, and I had no way of
tracking him down to find out how to get into the thing. Did I delete vital
card recognition software?

2 Haven't quite worked out how to link Newt up to one of my Macs yet. I've
got one 8-pin to 8-pin serial cable, and one 8-pin to 9-Din (I think -
rectangular curve-cornered fitment with screws either side). My Macs are:
Power PC 7300/200, Powerbook 5300cs and a Classic (at home), plus an iMac at
work. I presume I need Newton Connection Utilities installed for starters,
but not quite sure which cable to use (serial 8pin to 8pin looks the
favourite, since I can't locate the right size socket for the 9-Din).

Sorry to ramble on, but I'm new to this and not much of a techie! Searched
various FAQs already and not had much joy there, at least not with question
1.

Help!
