OK, I'm going to explain this *again*, although it is in the FAQ.
NewtonOS does not have files per se but (object) database entries.
Reading NewtonOS cards from an operating system with a very old and
primitive way to conceive storage such as MacOS X (i.e. flat files,
even MacOS, this now ancient and rusty OS, does better with
resources) requires a software on this system to actually read the
database and convert data.
Also, since MacOS X provides support for CF cards (something new with
10.1.2 I think), you don't need any driver to access the card. You
just need a software to access the data on the card.

Additionally, the format of data on NewtonOS cards is only partially
known. Some of it is in the FAQ, some of it is on Philz website
(http://vyx.net/~philz/), or Newton Formats, there might be some
outdated technote in the bowels library and most of it isn't written
anywhere.
