As has already been pointed out, 2.2 is just the 'original' version on
eMates from what I have been able to gather. All the eMates I've seen are
Version 2.2 (it's silkscreened right on the ROM chips) then were later
patched back to 2.1.
I suspect that the lack of screen input may be due to the 'infamous hinge
spring' problem that has been discussed recently too.
If that is true, then repairing it will be difficult, but not impossible.
As for being 'rare', IMHO there is nothing rare or unique about OS 2.2 on
the eMate.
Still, for a parts machine it might be a good buy, except with it doesn't
include battery pen or ac adaptor. It's certainly not a collectors item
though.
On the other hand, I've purchased from that vendor recently some 4MB flash
cards, and found him to be a very good seller, doing business with him was
quite pleasant, and I doubt he is 'trying anything'.
