Sushi,
I hope they do come out with a new PDA or Pen Tablet. I won't hold my breath
though. The HWR in Jaguar is the print recognizer (Rosetta) correct. That was
developed by Apple unlike the cursive recognizer. Apple should have sold the
Newt Technology sans Rosetta in that case. I know it can be argued that
Apple/SJ had no way of knowing what parts of the Newt they would want to
canabilize into other Apple products , which is why they might not have sold
it 5 years ago. Hey who knows?

MHO: Thank God Apple didn't buy Palm. (I can't stand those things - no
standard expansion, low res screen (until recently), lack of
inovation/product enhancement, etc) No offense to those of you that have/like
them. I just couldn't get myself to use one after using the Newton. (Even the
OMP had a standard PC card slot and an IR port!)

I do agree with you that it was a difficult time for SJ and Apple, but I have
never forgiven Apple for the way they discontinued the Newt. I was really
close to getting a Mac (always owned/used PC's), but after that, a Mac is not
even an option. I guess I wouldn't have to worry about Apple discontinuing
the Mac, but who knows? I never thought they would kill the Newton after
publicly saying they were returning the division back to Apple so that they
could devote more resourses to it.

Oh well - water under the bridge now. I will wade through the rumors and wait
for real news on a new Apple PDA.

Cheers!
Tom
