I was just thinking on my (admittedly rare and somewhat dated) experience w/
Windows -- the network volumes were just like additional hard drives. There
was no visible difference. And I never had to specifically mount them -- I
guess the password from starting up Windows allowed that somehow. (I'm
definitely NOT a Windows user by any stretch, so I have no idea of the what
may have been going on behind the scenes.) The possibility that one could
end up with FTP sites mounted in the same way is, to me, unnerving. It is,
conceptually, no different than using a network disk.
