I would say that this has something to do with one or more cells in your
battery pack which enlarge their volume during charging. Normally this
should not be the case.
Does this battery pack still slides in easily?
Of course in case this process will continue you risk to damage your Newts
case or to be unable to remove the battery pack.
So I would recommend trying to adapt the battery pack to an external
charger, charge it and try if it still slides into the Newt afterwards.
