That is not what I said. What I said is that it is the duty of those
who run the corporation to make it as profitable as possible. That is
their job.

Actually, it's to keep stockholders happy, and to execute their
fiduciary responsibility to the company. But I don't know any CEO's
that would last a week building products that didn't in some way
contribute to the bottom line. So if they are making "cool" products,
it is most certainly to build the overall company. Otherwise they
should be tossed.
Thankfully, there is a good market for "cool" products even if those
who run many large corporations don't see it - witness the V70 phone
that was a real battle to bring to market for the design team at
Motorola.
