With the MP5 this problem isn't the drum as it is replaced with the
toner cart. You will find that the problem lies with the fuser unit
which is in the back of the printer. You can flip down the back panel
and have a look at the fuser roller, and you should see that there is
built up gunk, or a deteriation of the fuser rollers surface.. The
least that will need to be done is for it to be cleaned (need a special
kit to do it, they are cheap though), but the worst case is that the
fuser unit needs replacement... (not cheap) and with the HP LaserJet
series both the cleaning or replacement should be done by a HP service
centre. It's not an easy task.
As for it not picking up the paper.. Could be anything. Paper
thickness, pickup roller (it's D shaped in these units) is
dirty/deteriated. Paper quality, push up spring crushed.. And more.
Hard to say.
