Sorry for attributing the wrong person for the above quote, but I
accidentally deleted the original post.
I can't speak for other programs, but in Claris Works (4, at least) if you
doubel-click on a tool, it will keep the tool active until you click again,
or click the arrow tool. Maybe this feature works in other programs. It's
certainly worth trying...
