Is it possible to hack the Newt to support IP printing or via some new
extension? I'll be honest and say that I haven't given AppleTalk a
thought in a few years, but if that's the only way for a Newt to print
over a network, it's something that needs to be looked into.

If you are lucky enough to have a network printer (e.g. HP 5 series)
which
is able to handle both, Appletalk and TCP/IP you have no problem at all.
If your Network printer is acessed via TCP/IP you still can print from
your
Mac, having configured the right TCP/IP printer, but I think not from
the
Newt.
