I don't think Apple is still maintaining them for the Newton any more, I'd
be surprised if they were.

For me, I just used 'steph' and hope for the best. I don't think you're
going to run into trouble just making something up and going with it. I'm
sure more experienced developers can chime in and correct me if I'm wrong,
though. :)
