I agree, that this is not the optimal connection,
but consider that the IR protocol implemented in the Newt is different to
the ones you have nowadays.
So they wont understand each other.
I already asked the question to the list if there is anybody capable and
willingly to write an IR driver for the Newt
implementing the IRCom protocol...
