I cheated when I did this, just to avoid this "problem". I created a
separate mail rule that didn't activate automatically. Once all my mail was
done downloading, I navigated to my Newtontalk folder, selected the digest,
and then manually ran this rule on the email. It would burst the digest, and
then I would mark the message read, and delete it. I preferred that to the
"hanging" sensation. :-) Oh, and if I didn't get to my digests for a day or
so, I could burst them, either all at once, for the messy experience, or one
at a time. :-)
