I think there was a thread about this on NewtonTalk before. The solution
was to use Steve Weyser's Sloup to upload MP3 files via serial. If I
remember correctly, there was also somebody working on a Java front-end
for this.
In any case, using HTTP to download files into MAD Max can be done,
given a little more time on my end... the pieces are all there.
