Granted, the

The Mac is not a hedgehog and a PC box is not loyal, dependable or good
looking! Seriously, it would be more analogous to say two different
kinds of dogs. Breeds look and behave differently, and some breeds,
especially at the show level, have very different needs (say, the
grooming of a Kerry blue terrier). Personally, I prefer Rhodesian
Ridgebacks (although I currently have an awesome Rotty mutt) and some
like those little puff-ball yappers. But if the only kind of dog was a
puff-ball yapper, I'd have one because I love dogs. If there were no
Macs, I'd have some hot PC box and I'm sure I'd really like it. But as
long as Macs are smart, beautiful and cool, with all those nice little
OS nuances, I'll keep buying and using them. Ed has different criteria
for his PCs and I think they're valid, even if they aren't mine. Raising
any kind of dog will help you get ready to be a professional dog
handler. But then you have to specialize in your specific breed. I have
always owned Apples (not counting a TRS-80 Model I) and I can still
figure out this blue-screen-of-death-prone Dell better than *most* of
the people in my office. I just hate doing it. :)
