Wow. Deep lurking. It's a pretty active topic, even among the sdrawkcab
segassem and braking discussions, etc. ;)

Anyway... Like a lot of things, it works, sort of. Actually, it works pretty
well, but there are some 'buts.'

Hiroshi Noguchi has released several versions of his WaveLan driver. alpha3,
the version just before his current release, works well for many. It
required the AirPort (or other 802.11b) base station to be have a specific
identity (Newton), transmit on a specific channel (11), and disable WEP
encryption. If you have your own base station, great, if you're in a shared,
or corporate environment, you may not have control over your base station's
configuration.

His latest version, beta1, was just released yesterday and is actually not
working for most people, including myself.

If you have the older drivers, then you've likely seen Hiroshi's page:

http://www.ff.iij4u.or.jp/~ngc/eng/newtwave.htm

It has descriptions of all the drivers and more.
